Some projects simply recover tradition; others make it pulse with new life. Alosa proves that folk music can be intimate, powerful, and entirely contemporary. We’ve had our eyes on them for a while, and we couldn’t let them get away: on Thursday, July 9th, we’ll see them live at Festival Cruïlla.

The duo Giulietta Vidal (vocals and percussion) and Irene Romo (vocals, cello, and percussion) has evolved from a rising act to sold-out shows at Barcelona’s most iconic venues, like L’Auditori and Paral·lel 62. With a magnetic social media presence and a live show that has already gone viral, Alosa is proof that Catalan folklore is more alive than ever.
Following the success of singles like Nenes de ciutat or Flors i violes, they arrive at the festival to present their debut album, El primer cant del matí. Produced by Arnau Figueres, the record showcases the duo’s sonic universe in all its glory, blending original compositions with fresh takes on classics like La dama d’Aragó or El Cant dels Ocells.
