The show of the witches arrives at Festival Cruïlla

The Aquelarre de Cervera (Cervera’s Coven) is the festival of fire, music and witches of the region of Lleida, an explosion of popular culture that takes place in the city of Cervera the last Saturday of August.

This party was born in 1978, and its aim was to recuperate a neighborhood of the old town and create an event just for the sake of throwing a party. It was located in a mysterious space that inspired its name, the Carreró de les Bruixes (the Alley of the Witches).

Since then it has grown exponentially, occupying the streets and squares of the historic center of the capital of La Segarra, involving a great number of cultural entities and the City Council of Cervera, which organizes the party.

Nowadays, the Aquelarre de Cervera is a unique cultural event that brings together around 30,000 spectators each year, a music festival and a party with various correfocs, during which more than 360 kilos of gunpowder are burnt, an invocation to the witches that offers a unique show with the Mascle Cabró at the front and, finally, an intense cultural manifestation of the associative fabric that gathers more than 500 volunteers.
