Fat Freddy’s Drop (FFD) is the most popular band ever emerged from New Zealand and one of the biggest live bands in this country. Like a secret recipe magic formula, its music contains undetermined doses of ingredients as healthy as reggae, soul, funk, dub, jazz, rock and disco. An ideal amount of 100% effective, enjoyable and stimulating result that you have to live in concert.
Founded in 1999 by the charismatic DJ Fitchie, Fat Freddy’s Drop has remained throughout the years as a septet that includes guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, synthesizers and three winds: a trumpet, a sax and a trombone. Starting from reggae, its sound has evolved incorporating electronic rhythms such as house or techno. Highlights the warm voice of Joe Dukie.

Beyond the LPs that have released their own label, The Drop, their claim is always the scenario. In fact, many of the songs of FFD arise when they are on tour, on the road, and they test them live to see the audience’s response. “We enjoy more the immediacy and response of a concert than sitting down to write music in the studio for hours,” they confess.
A consolidated fan base supports more than 1,000 concerts in twenty years, half of them in Australia and their hometown, Wellington, and the other half in Europe.
