The project of this Brazilian artist is proof that music, despite what some people try to deny or hide, is also political. It is political because, as she does, it allows us to fight against racism, LGBTIQphobia and sexism. Because, as in her case, it shows that language barriers do not exist and that it is possible to reach everyone by singing in one’s mother tongue. And because everything that moves us, like her music, can bring about change.
On July 11, the singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and activist Bia Ferreira will perform at the Festival Cruïlla 2024 to present her latest album ‘Faminta’!

Defined by Ferreira herself as Música de Mulher Preta (Black Woman’s Music), her discography draws from her own experience as a Brazilian woman launching her career on her own when she was just a teenager and transmitting her message to anyone who wanted to hear it. It was in 2017 when her fame exploded after performing at a Sofar Sound session and since then she has continued to tour the world.
This 2024 she will continue to do so and we are lucky enough to say that one of the cities she will be visiting will be Barcelona on July 11!
